Welcome to the World, Paige!
We’re thrilled to share some wonderful news! Director Sophie Young and her husband James, welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Paige Elizabeth Neeson, on 17th July at 7.23pm, weighing 3.09kg. Both mum and baby are doing beautifully and the whole team couldn’t be more excited for Sophie and her growing family.
Sophie will be taking a couple of months off to recover and soak up every precious moment but don’t be surprised if you spot her (and Paige!) behind the desk from time to time. In the meantime, our experienced team is fully in place to ensure your care continues without interruption. And with all this early exposure to foot health, we may just have a future podiatrist on our hands!

Exciting News: Highett Podiatry Partners with Sandringham Football Club
We’re proud to announce that Highett Podiatry is now the official podiatrist of Sandringham Football Club.
Kate and Tristan will be attending training sessions and games, and together with the rest of our team, will be on hand to diagnose, manage and rehabilitate all the Zebras’ foot and ankle injuries. We’re honoured to be part of such a great club and look forward to keeping their players on their feet and pain-free.
Foot Focus: Menopause and Your Feet
Menopause is a well-known life transition, but its impact on foot health is something that often goes under the radar. Driven largely by declining oestrogen levels, perimenopause and menopause can affect everything from bone density to joint flexibility (and yes, that includes your feet).
No two women will experience the same symptoms, but changes in foot structure, increased vulnerability to conditions like plantar fasciitis, and reduced fat padding underfoot are all worth knowing about. Head to our full article on the website to read more about what to look out for and how we can help.

Podiatry & Radiology — More Connected Than You Think
Did you know your podiatrist can refer you for X-rays, ultrasounds and MRIs? Imaging plays a vital role in accurately diagnosing foot and ankle injuries, from stress fractures and joint misalignment to plantar fascial tears and soft tissue damage. It helps us make informed decisions, monitor healing, and ensure your treatment plan is on the right track.

Golf & Orthotics — Could Your Game Improve?
Custom foot orthotics aren’t just for injury management. Research suggests they can actually improve your golf game.
A study in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics found golfers using orthotics experienced better balance, stability and increased club head speed. By correcting foot alignment and improving ground contact, orthotics can lead to smoother swings, better control and less strain on your knees, hips and lower back.
Ask our very own Kerry about her experience, she’s an avid golfer and swears by hers!
Introducing Our Allied Health Assistants
Here at Highett Podiatry, we are lucky to have acquired the services of two Allied Health Assistants who will start practising with us next month. This enables us to expand our availability to service more of your clients and provide this service at a reduced cost to the client.
Caitlyn Van Elewoud and Tristan Belfield are currently employed by us as Administrative Assistants and recently gained approval to begin patient care under the “Allied Health Assistant – Podiatry” role.
Caitlyn and Tristan are third-year podiatry students. They are fully insured and registered to deliver direct patient care under the supervision of a qualified podiatrist. Some restrictions and protocols need to be addressed and have been listed below.
Clients are to be assessed, and a treatment plan is developed by a fully qualified podiatrist before the Allied Health Assistant provides general foot care.
If the treatment plan changes at any time, the qualified podiatrist will reassess it to ensure that your treatment plan and care are at the highest level possible.
If you would like to know more or would like your care taken over by one of our podiatry Allied Health Services, please call or email us.
